The following is an outline of a common website development process. Pre Project * Initial consultation with client; Concept developed & defined. Technical needs detailed. * Asses Client's Budget. Proposal for Solution. * Sign Proposal.. Receive 1st payment. Step 1 * Consult on Content Development/Style guidelines for Look & Feel. * Define schedule, Layout - Fluid or Fixed, Left or Top Navigation, Logo, Color Pallet, graphical assets, photography, promotional copy, Typography and font usage, etc. * Client approves schedule. Site structure defined, navigation and page flow developed. Client hands over all photography and graphical assets for designer to develop concept of look and feel. Sitemap completed. Technical needs clarified and addressed. Content acquisition begins. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Information Architecture Freeze. This is where all the navigational elements are locked in. Client can no longer change existing navigation or add pages. This is so we can meet expected deadlines. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 2 * User interface design begins. Design presented and look and feel is set. I will produce the first design from elements provided by the client and try to come to an agreement on creative feel of the site. Step 3 * Navigation style and Design finalized. * Receive 2nd payment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Design/Interface Freeze. This is where all the schematic layout and color scheme are locked in. Client can no longer change existing schematic layout and color scheme. This is so we can meet expected deadlines. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 4 * All template created (HTML - Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, etc.). * Alternative Art production/ GIF animation production. Begin HTML production. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Content Freeze. * This is where all the creative copy and images are locked in. Client can no longer change existing creative content. This is so we can meet expected deadlines. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 5 * Continue HTML production and .PHP or other scripting language / programming. Incorporate content and graphics into final site. Step 6 * Beta version is for client sign off. User testing takes place. Step 7 * Site moved to end server for cross-platform browser testing. Necessary modifications made. Step 8 * The final step for a getting your site up, but by no means the end! * One last review before LAUNCH of the site * Receive 3rd payment. *In an effort to meet the projected launch date, "freeze" dates are imposed at certain stages of progress. Any input that comes in after these stages will be billed at a rate of $65.00 per hour.
